Reboot

• 4 min to read •

After various patch and application installations, it can be necessary to reboot devices to enable the proper functioning of the deployment. For patch deployments, forcing a reboot after deployment is strongly recommended.

When creating tasks within the console, several options are available. Check the guided walk-thoughs below.

Important Information

You can include a reboot within a deployment task, in addition to a standalone reboot task;

A reboot can be made on a device-by-device basis from the right-click menu.

Syxsense Manage offers default 'Reboot UI Config' options within the Settings area.

These settings will auto-populate any task where a reboot is forced.

On a task level, the 'Reboot UI Config' settings can be changed to deviate from the default settings.

Reboot UI is a pop-up user interface that allows you to configure all reboot settings.

Click on 'Settings'  in the top right corner of the screen.

Click on 'Reboot UI Config' (expand Custom Settings if required) to view or make

changes to the default settings.

You can then carry out the following:

  • Overwrite the existing 'Custom Reboot Message' with your own message. ①
  • Enter the URL to the stored location of your company logo, the logo will then appear as part of the UI message. The maximum possible logo size is 20 KB. ②
  • Set the initial shutdown timer. ③ This timer will start to count down as soon as the message is displayed on a device, if no action is taken by the logged-on user, the device will reboot at the end of the time period.

The Initial reboot timer should be at least 30 minutes or longer so that end-users will have enough time to react before the device is rebooted automatically.

  • Allow or deny the logged-on user the option to cancel the reboot. ④ Please, note that this option does not postpone the reboot, no further reboot messages will appear for the task if the logged-on user clicks on 'Cancel'.
  • Allow or deny the logged-on user the ability to snooze (postpone) the reboot. ⑤
  • The 'Snooze Timer' ⑥ frequency or how often the 'Snooze' option appears.
  • The 'Snooze Count' ⑦ or how many times the end-user can click 'Snooze'.

Click on 'Save' to save any changes that you have made.  Drop-down TitleDrop-down Title
