Relay Functionality

The relay connection method is the primary method of implementation when the devices are 100% dark or DMZ-type networks with zero connectivity to the Internet. With the help of this functionality devices with no Internet access and no direct access to the Syxsense cloud servers can benefit from all Syxsense functionality by utilizing a Syxsense vReps as a Relays.

Every device will need to be provisioned with a special file informing the responder which vRep may be used as a relay to allow access. This can be automatically performed during the Network Discovery process.

Important Information

There is no failover so if you have multiple vReps as relays, devices will only be able to communicate with one at a time.

To configure the relay connection, you need to either:

Copy RelayUrls.json from the vRep to every device under our $Vcmstemp$ folder and restart the Syxsense Responder service.
Or perform a device discovery on the network where the devices are located.

Prerequisites

A device in the Syxsense Manage console that has the vReps agent installed
